Are you giving the government free money? I am not talking about taxes, I am talking about free money. Let me explain. How much money did you get back from your taxes last year? If you received less than a few hundred dollars, good! You are right on track. If you received more than that though, there is a possibility that you are giving the government your money to hold on to INTEREST FREE for a full year!

Remedying this can be as easy as changing the number of dependants you report on your check. Don’t lie and make up a number, but opt not to use ‘0’ as an option. Get a little bit of money now, not a lump sum at the end of the year. If you receive an extra $100 a month, you can use that money for a ton of things! You can put it towards savings (and get interest!), you can take your family out to eat, or you can use that extra money towards finally getting out of debt.
