Bankruptcy:
The main purpose of a bankruptcy is to help individuals who have debt get some of their debt forgiven and repay the rest of their debt with whatever money they have available. In theory it sounds like a dream. Wipe off your debt and start over? Who wouldn’t want to do that?
It isn’t quite as easy as it seems, as the laws have changed. Now it is harder than ever to declare bankruptcy and even if you qualify for it, it is harder than ever to want to go through with it! Bankruptcy will stay on your credit report for many years. Often times when applying for a loan, it is asked if you have ever filed for bankruptcy; even if it was 30 years ago, you have to say yes!
Fortunately there are other alternatives to bankruptcy, and other solutions to help you become debt free. If you are interested in learning about some of your options, call one of our financial consultants today!
